It seems like I have passed it and if I have not been a too big lid I should pass log check. The contest was fun, Saturday was amazing and it felt like very high activity from US, maybe because of the Easter holidays? However Sunday was horrible, barely got any propagations towards US, just sporadic ones where the aurora let through the signals. All east coast worked on Sunday was via skew path near South America. Kind of wish I had read the prognosis and maybe wouldn't have taken half of the off-time on Saturday and instead more on Sunday. Thanks for the QSOs! Antennas: 6/6/6el + 5/5el + 4el @EU + dipole 470m away @30m Rigs: K3 + TS590SG (inband) Amp: ACOM 2000A (Sponsored by Ojojoj Music AB) Check the website, it contains a lot of fun stuff on the progress of the station build etc. http://www.sj2w.se/
CQ WPX SSB – EU record!
Last weekend
Here is a little update of last weekend. I went down to SJ2W on Friday and met up with SM2XLL in Skellefteå where we ate dinner and continued the trip to SJ2W. SM2XJP helped me to unload the car which was full of stuff for the QBL including the amplifier, transformer etc itself. I also got with me some archive cabinets down which I really like to store tools etc in.
A little update
Sorry for the lack of updates lately but I am too busy with work and other stuff. I need to find a way to get rich soon so I that I can work less and spend more time on radio related stuff 😉 However right now I am trying to recover from the flu.
I have been working on making a little workshop in the basement at SJ2W since I am changing jobs and am left without a mechanical and electronics workshop. I will try to continue building on the QBL amplifier down there and also other stuff, its very nice with a heated space.
SM2LIY was also here and operated ARRL CW and it seems like it might be a #1 win in Europe also this year but this time on 20m, very fun indeed. I am a bit pissed that I skipped working ARRL SSB since the propagation’s were really good. Hopefully I will have time and motivation to do the WPX SSB, either SOAB or SB20, we will see.
Status update
Lately most of the stuff that has been done has been building electronics. Except being in the progress of changing my job I have been programming a lot on the openSRI interface and I also got the v1.1 designed, ordered, assembled and tested. Now I have gotten rid of the microphone audio hum plus the new changes seem to work. I have a list of changes to make for v1.2 such as adding SPI to the top floor so we can have ethernet or any other interface that need high data rate. By having I2C and SPI to the top floor there is always the option to add pretty much anything to the interface.
So instead of needing to do v1.2 at once I patched those changes on v1.1 so that I can test everything thus maybe not needing to do more than one more revision (hopefully…).
I will be spending next weekend with SM2LIY down at SJ2W trying to catch K5P and VP8STI on a few bands. I have managed to work K5P on 20SSB and 40CW but unfortunately 30m yagi seem to have some issue. Hopefully its just the relays that switches the yagi in on the 40m coax out at the tower base and not something with the yagi.
I also am in the progress of ordering a new version antenna switch which is 3×1.
